The best Christmas present I got this year was a BlackRapid RS-7 strap from my brother. It is pure awesome. Instead of the camera hanging around and weighing on your neck, it sits comfortably at your hip. The strap in the photo above is the RS-4 model though, not the RS-7. It was the only decent in-action photo of it that I could find. They’re basically the same though. There’s also this cheesy promo video of the different models they make, which includes one designed specifically for the female anatomy.
The only downside to it compared with a regular neck strap is that it attaches to the tripod mount, so if you want to take a photo with a tripod you have to switch it out every time with the quick release plate. On the other hand, if you’re taking a photo using a tripod you’re probably not in such a great hurry that it would be a terrible inconvenience. They sell a connector that works with a quick release plate, but apparently only with one type made by Manfrotto.
